Spring 2007
This project is an attempt to bring to light beautiful objects within a space that is very particular about its beautiful objects. In a modern art museum, it's often difficult to tell which piece of the environment are art. Is this chair so banal it is gorgeous or is it just there for the security guard? During my last trip to the Carnegie Art Museum, I saw many things that I found beautiful that weren't art. I knew they weren't because they lacked the thing that made all those other odds and ends art: the placard.

I decided to take it upon myself to engage in, if not the making, then the art-making of these objects. I've claimed an authorship to these items and used their visual language, the placard, to denote it. Hopefully a few people noticed a little more beauty during their visit.

This project was undertaken without the knowledge of the Carnegie Museum of Art. Express care was taken so as not to damage any part of the museum.
